Israel-Hezbollah Conflict Escalates as Air Raids and Drone Strikes Continue

A young Palestinian boy, with a bandage wrapped around his head, receives comfort from an older man after being injured in an Israeli strike on the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. The child is being treated at Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat.

Israel's military intensified its operations, launching air raids across southern Lebanon. In response, Hezbollah conducted a significant drone and rocket attack, citing retaliation for the killing of its commander, Fuad Shukr, by Israeli forces in Beirut in July.

Meanwhile, attempts at negotiating a ceasefire in Gaza show little progress. According to a Palestinian official quoted by Reuters, a Hamas delegation that was in Cairo has now left the Egyptian capital.

In Gaza, at least 71 Palestinians were killed on Saturday as Israeli tanks and bulldozers pushed into the central city of Deir el-Balah, prompting more than 100,000 people to flee within two days.

The conflict's toll has reached devastating levels, with at least 40,334 Palestinians killed and 93,356 injured in Gaza. In Israel, an estimated 1,139 people lost their lives during Hamas-led attacks on October 7.
